Party

Konguq- Human Wizard Captain

Ace- Human Rouge, Quartermaster

Vodren-Human Cleric, Healer/navigator

Bron- Dwarf Fighter, Master of Arms

Ryai-Elf Spellblade, Night Watch

The new crew of the Dandy Rose mingles over dinner and gets to know their newest members.

  • Darvis Flamebrow- 6'3, 20 years of age, and quite large. He's the quiet type interested in Gnomish design and mechanics. He/him
  • Ciella Flamebrow- 4'10, 17 years of age, and sweeter than sugar. Darvis' baby sister. Wants to see the world.
  • Ister Kikuit- 5'10, 20 years of age and smarmy as hell. She/her
  • Necla Tyrannis- 5'6, 18 years of age and covered in homemade tattoos. A glutton. He/him

Ryai asks if the crew has any questions for the party, and the first thing Necla asks is if it's true that Ryai is a woman. To which Ryai puts his head in his hands. Ace speaks up instead, explaining that Ryai is a man despite his appearance.

They then discuss the matter of how long they should stay in port waiting for the hole to get fixed. There is some back and forth, but Ryai points out that the longer he is in Crossing, the more likely someone from Qualinost might come to collect him. Pushing them to move their date to a week.

The next morning, the party does some shopping.

  • Ace visits a jeweler to request a small infinity pendant made out of bronze.
  • Ryai visits the blacksmith to convert his old rapier into a cane sword.
  • Vodren visits a brewer to see if he can make something out of the holy water.
  • Konguq spends time attuning to the Blade of the Aurora

When they return, the other crewmates bring others to round out the crew.

  • Fallen Oak- 7ft, aged around 30 years old. One of the plainsmen who doesn't speak a lot of common. He/him welds a 10ft bow
  • Betineedle "Betty" Picashin- 5'2, half Kender, who is missing an arm. She has a bad case of wanderlust. Genderfluid enters the ship using she/her
  • Martle Half-Elven - former seeker from Solace that the party met at the Inn of the Last Home. He is a small man, wary of dragons. He/him

Once the crew is settled, Lindvai makes her way on board, and the crew begins to talk about their next step. After some talking, they make the decision to head to Icewalker territory, stopping by Kharolis to unload weaponry and restock on what the Icewalkers might want. They also plan to hit up some other ports on the way to see if they can find Broud. During the conversation, Konguq notices that Lindvai keeps looking at Ryai, specifically his chest.

Konguq then explains the code of the ship.

  • Everyone gets one vote
  • Unless things are scarce, feel free to use the ship supply to your leisure
  • If you are caught taking more than your share, you forgo your next one.
  • No card/Dice game for money
  • Lights off at 9. Revelry moves to the upper deck at that time
  • Keep weapons good.
  • Desertion of post = Marooned
  • We will vote to abandon ship
  • Keep Conflict off the ship
  • Theft from crew equals loss of limb
  • If someone dishonors the crew, they are fair game.

They decide to officially change the ship's name from Jackdaw to The Dandy Rose and carve the name into the ship, along with altering the figurehead to be a bird holding a rose rather than a sword.

Konguq tells Ryai about Lindvai staring at him and immediately becomes uncomfortable. Konguq goes with Ryai to confront her on the issue. When Lindvai asks for privacy, Konguq leaves a pebble behind so she can watch while out of the room. While alone, she tells Ryai that she thought she was the only one, revealing herself to be a trans woman. Ryai is relieved and elated to find out that was the case instead of what he thought. Lindvai offers to take some of Fallen Oak's ale one night and have the two of them chat. Ryai agrees and leaves.

Despite one of the codes mentioned being broken, when Konguq re-enters the room, she offers instead comfort to Lindvai. She doesn't understand.

They are all called to Blue Cloak Manor by Alaban for a farewell feast. The whole crew comes, and he does nothing but praise the group.

Ryai eventually pulls away to speak with Cyrus about Vanthanoris since he will oversee Crossing’s affairs.

Vodren offers to bless Alaban’s journey, and Alaban asks if he can knight them. Ryai and Vodren take the time to research how to go about that, and Ryai finds the words spoken by Venus Solannius when he first created the knighthood at Whitestone Glade.

Before Alaban sets out the next day, Ace sneaks ahead of the party to talk to him. He thanks Alaban for everything, and Alaban tells him even if he has to build a wall between him and Solamnia Ace, he will always be welcomed in Crossing. Ace then gives him the infinity pendant he had made, telling him that Tarth used to venerate Mishakal, praying that she kept them safe. Alaban gladly takes it. Before the rest show up, Ace disappears in the crowd. Vodren shows up with the rest of the group and blesses them. After Vodren speaks, Alaban gives his own speech, and the chain that Ace gave him begins to glow blue. Vodren sees that his own holy symbol glows, and he holds it to his chest, telling Habakkuk that Alaban gets it. In an instant, the pendant changes from the chain to an actual medallion, making him a Cleric of Mishakal. Konguq notices Ace hiding by the gate with Vajra laughing and crying. While checking his things, Ace finds that the medallion he had is gone, but the chain is there. He wears the chain. Vajra grabs Ace, and the two go drinking.

Konguq goes to talk with the families of her crew after the ceremony.

Vodren and Galera talk after, too.

That night, people sleep elsewhere while Vodren and Galera have their last night of passion. Ryai going as far as the mansion.

The next day, Ryai purchases a book on Lycanthropy to help Vorlo. He finds that some of his behaviors might be residual from his time as a Boar, but they won't know until the next full moon. Ryai does find a cure in the form of a Moonglow Flower, but it only grows in Balifor. Ryai lets Vorlo know and offers to use the Lock Joint Poison on him if it comes to that. Vorlo tells him not to waste it, and Ryai knows, but he also doesn't want Vorlo to suffer the next full moon if he doesn't have to.

Vorlo comes back from brewers training successful, but the experiment with the holy water doesn't go anywhere. Vodren then makes more holy water to continue the experiment.

Ryai approaches Ace, holding the fine coat Ace gave him after the incident at the Knight's Festival. He mentions that Ace always seems to step in to try to bail Ryai out of trouble, first when he landed in jail, then getting him out of the room with Vanthanoris, and lastly, blocking Admiral Kingsail from attacking him. Ace tries to brush it off, but Ryai thanks him anyway, returning the coat. When Ace gets it back, he notices something inside of it. Upon investigating, he finds the cane sword Ryai had commissioned.

Ace continues to get to know the crew. He finds that Fallen Oak is an alcoholic and is suffering from PTSD. Ciella is a headstrong Chihuahua of a girl, and her brother Darvis is insecure. Ister is a con woman and likes to show off her scores. Betty has the tendency to pick up things that aren't hers, like a Kender, but she will put them back. Necla is only interested in doing the bare minimum, and Martle is trying but has no idea what he's doing.

The party celebrates their last night in Crossing with Garham, enjoying tea with him. He gives updates on what's going on in the Blood Sea and how it's become even more hostile waters. He also tells him the customs in Crossing for engagement is to exchange bracelets and that Cyrus came by looking for one. He then sold Cyrus the fake copper bracelet.

The next morning, Cyrus visited the ship to give us his blessings and see the party off. He invites the party to attend Dacey and his spring wedding. Cyrus then smashes the bottle against the ship as they take off. Constable Bage sends the party off with a barrage of flame arrows. Brutus, Vajra, and others wave them off. And as they leave the port, they catch the glint of The Dragon's Lance figurehead.

Finally, the party sets out on a journey, saying farewell to Crossing
