Vodren-Human Cleric, Healer and Navigation
Bron- Dwarf Fighter, Master of Arms
Ryai-Elf Spellblade, Night Watch
As the party prepares, they set off for the island in the middle of the bay to help Orissa and Galea clear the island of the Black Pudding Ooze that attacked Galea.
They explore the island first, with Ace noticing venomous snakes in the water and possible habitation by someone else. The party disembarks and begins to explore the island.
- Ryai explores the pillars in the center. They are from the time of Istar when the Ergothian Empire was an actual Empire.
- Bron saw some stairs with a door at the bottom
- Vodren found some tracks near a cave entrance. They go near the campsite they saw from the boat. The footprints are human in nature.
- Ace hears water underground.
With the information gathered, Ryai knows that if water is getting in underground, this place isn't structurally sound. The party decides to try to lure the Black Pudding out and take them on one by one. They go to the door, and it's a large steel door with reliefs that have been scratched out. Opening the door, they enter a room carved out of the stone walls and currently flooded.
Vodren casts Light, and the first black Pudding makes itself known. They hear a large wailing sound and metal scraping in the distance
Vodren weakens the Pudding with Bane while Ace manages to strike its weak point, critically hurting it. Despite being severely damaged, it lunges at Bron and Ace, with Ace taking the brunt of the attack and damaging his armor. Ryai manages to finish off the Pudding.
Not long after, a ghost-like figure phases through the wall. Its face is that of a man who was passed out on the floor of Orissa's home. Ryai and Vodren recognize it as a banshee. Ryai knows they can't truly kill it unless its killer is brought to justice or the curse is removed.
Ryai asks how the man was killed, and Konguq asks if he deserved his death. With that comment, he targets her and sends a cold shiver down her spine. The Banshee then tells them about how he put his work into the Red Flag, with it being his pride and joy. Then he tells of how Orissa brought him to the island to claim ownership of the Red Flag, how she plans to better it, and how she plans to upgrade her partner to Galea. The two killed the man, and Galea has been puppeting his body ever since.
Vodren promises to bring Orissa to justice and meet the banshee's request to kill Orissa. The banshee is beyond pleased by this and gives Vodren his name, Gregor Mendelson. Ryai, however, thinks there is something else to this story.
The party updates him on what happened to the Inn, including all the upgrades and the impressive wine collection. At the mention of the wine, Gregor loses control and wails, severely affecting Konguq. With two party members injured badly, the party tries to figure out where they can take a short rest.
Gregor scouts for them and gives the group more details about the place. He tells them that a hole opened up one day, and around half a dozen of the puddings came through and attacked Galea. He also tells them about the shark man who has been visiting Galea for a while now, getting herbal remedies from her. He's been looking pretty sick.
Ryai asks for the man's appearance in his humanoid form and is told that he looks like a humanoid with blue skin. After Ryai's research, he recognizes that the shark man is one of the Dimernesti elves. But it's not common for them to change into sharks. Konguq sends a message to the elf that Vodren wants to help his condition.
The party regrouped at the campsite near the beach, and not long after, the Dimernesti arrived on the beach. Using Konguq as a translator, Vodren gives the man a look over and finds that he is infected with the same malady as the birds. As Vodren is now, he can't cure it on his own. But he could help if he could convert the altar to Zebiom on the island to Habakkuk.
Ryai asks Gregor if he can give them a map of the underground, and the party plans on crushing the pudding in a cave-in. Gregor obliges, and when he leaves the Dimernesti, Konguq warns him that Gregor is a bad man. When Gregor returns, he gives the party the map of the ruins, and they plan their ambush. In the middle of it, Rumblegut appears, surprising everyone.
Despite their last encounter, they are amicable and discuss what happened with Zeboim, how she took Oleander's body, and control of his Lacedons. He came to talk with Galea about something, but since she's not here, at least he offers to assist with destroying the pudding.
The party with the new ally puts their plan in motion. They attempt to sneak back in and are pretty quickly surrounded by the Pudding. With prestidigitation and thaumaturgy, they manage to trick the pudding and move it into the chosen room to implode.
As the group moves into position, Bron signs at Ace, asking if he should kill Rumblegut. Ace refers to Konguq, and the three agree to kill him. As the room caves in around the Pudding, Rumblegut gets shoved in.
Vodren is viably upset and wishes to pray about the betrayal.
Ryai, however, is oddly quiet.
With the Pudding and Rumblegut gone, the party goes to convert the altar to help the Dimernesti. After a group effort to remove Zebiom's symbol and enhancing Vodren’s prayer, Vodren succeeds in its transformation.
Konguq and Ryai go to retrieve the Dimernesti. Ryai asks in Elven if he can understand him, to which the Dimernesti turns to Konguq and says he almost does. Ryai seems extremely elated by the possibility in front of him. Konguq asks him his name, and he outright refuses. Saying that she deals too closely with darker magic.
They return with the Dimernesti and place him on the altar. Vodren gets to work on healing the man, and he looks better. In the end, the Dimernesti pukes out a black sludge. And pukes. And pukes, and pukes, until two glass balls come out of his body and roll onto the floor. He passes out on the altar, and sludge reforms into a large shark, rearing to attack the party.
