The party travels up the beach towards the standing stones. As they head up, they notice a scrap of cloth on driftwood in the ocean. The party goes on alert as they continue on.

They eventually encounter a dolphin corpse beached on the sand, moving ominously. Ace and Bron move closer to inspect while the rest of the party gives it space. When they approach, they are met with an undead-looking creature consuming the dolphin's insides. Ace and Bron try to back away but are ambushed by more from the ocean.

The party fights back, with Vodren sending the moon clover towards Ace to keep the zombies at bay. However, Bron becomes paralyzed by the zombies, and they drag him into the water. Ace, Konguq, and Ryai manage to chase off the remaining one, saving Bron.

Konguq inspects the poison from the wound on Bron and discovers it's a paralysis poison from them. She collects a vial, and they take a claw from one. Also, when inspecting the dead, Ryai recognizes them as Lacedons from his books. The party continues onwards, keeping an eye on the sea.

As they approach the stones, they notice a large, intimidating figure standing guard and a smaller one dodging between the rocks. Ace splits off to attempt to get a better look. He sees a person the size of a kender holding a large stick. The party assumes it's a wizard.

After conversation, the party approaches the large Lacedon standing guard at the stones. The small wizard appears before them, revealing to be a black robbed kobold named Rumblegut.

They ask him about the stones, and he starts to get defensive about his work there. Ryai, who really, really, really wanted to know about it, begins to info dump on the kobold about his knowledge of runes. Rumblegut, impressed with his knowledge, makes a deal with Ryai. If they lie about what the stones are to Crossing, he'll help get the party a ship out of Crossing.

Ryai swears on his name that they will lie.

Vodren does not want any part of the conversation and returns to town to prepare for his night with Galera.

Rumblegut explains that the stones serve multiple purposes. One allowed him to create and modify the Lacedons, and the other was a communication terminal for the dragon armies. He has no real stake in the war, just wanting to be paid. He also teaches Konguq and Ryai the spell Animate Dead and how to perform communication and necromancy rituals. (Things they are not yet able to do)

In addition, Ryai asks about the location of the dragon orbs to Rumblegut. He gives him more leads and offers encouragement to Ryai to find them.

Vodren goes on his date with Galera, spending ample time preparing and letting the whole town know as he does. The two spend their night on the beach and get to know each other intimately~
